Terms of use
Club 1778 website
Last updated: 21 October 2026. This translation is provided for convenience: only the French version is legally binding.
Article 1: Publisher and purpose
The website www.club-1778.org, hereinafter the “Site”, is published by Club 1778, a société par actions simplifiée (simplified joint-stock company) whose registered office is at 4, rue Charles-Marie Widor, Paris, hereinafter the “Club”.
Person responsible for the Site: Louis Sarkozy de Nagy Bosca.
Contact: contact@club-1778.org
These general terms of use, hereinafter the “Terms”, set out the conditions for accessing the Site and using its content and features.
They apply to anyone who visits or uses the Site, hereinafter the “User”, whether or not they are a member of the Club.
Article 2: About the Site
The Site presents the Club, its activities, publications, analyses, news and events.
Depending on the features offered, it may also allow Users to contact the Club, receive its communications, submit contributions or access restricted content.
These Terms do not replace the specific conditions that apply to a membership, an event registration or a paid service. Those conditions are provided separately where required.
Article 3: Access and use
Viewing the public pages of the Site is free of charge, apart from the connection and equipment costs borne by the User.
Some features may be reserved for members or subject to specific access conditions. Where an account is offered, the User provides accurate information and keeps their login details confidential. They inform the Club of any unauthorised use they become aware of.
The User undertakes to use the Site lawfully and to respect the rights of third parties. In particular, they shall not:
- transmit unlawful, defamatory, abusive or fraudulent content, or content that infringes privacy;
- share documents or information they are not authorised to disclose;
- impersonate any person or wrongly present a position as being that of the Club;
- disrupt the operation of the Site, introduce malicious software or attempt to access data or restricted areas without authorisation;
- collect or reuse the contact details of members and users without authorisation.
Where acceptance of the Terms is required for a feature, it is obtained before that feature is used.
Article 4: Information and contributions sent to the Club
Users and members may, through the means made available to them, send the Club information, messages, proposals, documents or contributions.
They ensure that the information they provide is accurate and, when they become aware of it, report any error that needs correcting.
They state whether the documents they send are confidential and any restrictions on their distribution. They refrain from sharing personal data about third parties, sensitive information or protected documents when they have no basis or authorisation for doing so.
Submitting a contribution creates no automatic right to its publication, distribution, remuneration or a favourable response from the Club.
Article 5: Control of information and editorial independence of the Club
Subject to applicable law, the rights of the persons concerned and any expressly agreed commitments, Club 1778 retains full and exclusive control over the organisation, management and distribution decisions, through its own channels, of the information its members provide to it.
Accordingly, the Club decides who may consult this information, how it is handled internally and, where its distribution is lawful and authorised, whether, when, where and how it is published.
The Club alone exercises editorial direction over the Site. It may accept or refuse a contribution, postpone its publication, request changes or stop distributing it, subject to any specific commitments made to its author.
Any adaptation respects the author’s rights and the meaning of their contribution. Where necessary, the Club obtains the author’s agreement before publication.
No member, partner or service provider may extract, transmit, publish or exploit for their own account the member files or non-public information to which the Club gives them access, unless expressly authorised or required by law. Authorised service providers act within the scope of the assignments and instructions given to them.
This control neither automatically transfers the contributors’ intellectual property rights nor waives the rights of individuals over their personal data. It does not allow confidential or personal information to be made public without an appropriate basis.
Article 6: Confidentiality
The Club restricts access to non-public information to the people who need it to carry out their duties and takes appropriate confidentiality measures.
Such information is disclosed to a service provider, partner or authority only when this is necessary and permitted by the applicable legal or contractual framework.
Users who have access to restricted areas or to documents identified as confidential undertake not to disclose them or reuse them beyond the purpose for which they were provided.
This obligation does not prevent disclosures required or protected by law, in particular the exercise of a legal right or of whistleblowing rights.
Article 7: Intellectual property
The texts, studies, publications, photographs, illustrations, videos, logos and other elements of the Site are protected, where they meet the legal conditions for protection, by the intellectual property rights of their respective owners.
Unless authorised or permitted by a legal exception, their reproduction, adaptation, distribution or exploitation is prohibited.
Quotations and reuses permitted by law must comply with the conditions that apply to them, in particular crediting the author and the source where required.
Contributions sent by members remain subject to their authors’ rights. Where their use requires authorisation, that authorisation specifies the permitted uses, media, duration and territorial scope. Any exclusivity is subject to a separate express agreement.
Article 8: Personal data
Club 1778 acts as data controller for the processing of personal data whose purposes and means it determines in connection with the Site.
Data is used for the purposes stated when it is collected, in particular to respond to requests and, depending on the services actually offered, to manage relations with members, registrations and the Club’s communications.
The privacy policy, available at the bottom of every page of the Site, sets out the categories of data processed, the purposes, the legal bases, the recipients, the retention periods and, where applicable, transfers outside the European Economic Area and their safeguards.
Under the conditions laid down by the regulations, data subjects may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Where processing is based on their consent, they may withdraw it at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out before.
These rights can be exercised at the following address: contact@club-1778.org.
Data subjects may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés) at www.cnil.fr.
Accepting these Terms does not, in itself, constitute consent to all data processing or to the disclosure of data to third parties.
Article 9: Content, availability and liability
The Club takes reasonable care to ensure that the information published is accurate and up to date. Errors or omissions may nevertheless occur. They can be reported to the contact address given in Article 1.
Publications are provided for information purposes and, unless expressly stated otherwise, do not constitute personalised advice. Signed analyses are the responsibility of their author and do not necessarily represent an official position of the Club.
Access to the Site may be interrupted or restricted, in particular for maintenance or security reasons or in the event of a technical incident. The Club endeavours to limit the consequences of such interruptions.
The Club’s liability is assessed under the applicable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Article 10: Links to third-party sites
The Site may contain links to sites operated by third parties. Those sites have their own terms of use and privacy policies.
A link does not, in itself, constitute an endorsement of all the content or services of the site concerned.
Article 11: Restriction of access
In the event of unlawful use, a security risk or a breach of the rules applicable to a feature, the Club may take the necessary and proportionate measures, in particular restricting access to that feature or suspending an account.
Except in an emergency, where the law provides otherwise or where security is at risk, the User concerned is informed of the reason for the measure and may submit their observations to the Club’s contact address.
Restricting access to the Site does not, in itself, terminate a membership or any other contract, which remain governed by their own conditions.
Article 12: Changes to the Terms
The Club may amend these Terms to reflect changes to the Site, its services or the regulations.
The published version shows its date of last update. Changes apply going forward, without affecting rights already acquired.
Where the Terms have been accepted for a service, changes are brought to the attention of the Users concerned and, where necessary, submitted for their acceptance.
Article 13: Governing law and complaints
These Terms are governed by French law, subject to any mandatory provisions that may apply to the User.
Any question or complaint may be sent to contact@club-1778.org or by post to the Club’s registered office.
Failing an amicable resolution, the dispute falls within the jurisdiction of the competent courts under the applicable legal rules. These Terms do not deprive the User of the mandatory protections they enjoy, in particular as a consumer.
